How to check an agency

Most agencies are honest. The habit of checking takes a minute and removes the rest.

The agrément

An estate agency trades under an agrément issued by its wilaya, and holds a registre de commerce and a tax number, the NIF. Ask for the agrément number. A real agency gives it without a pause, and it will match the name on the door.

What Buyutkom checks

Every agency applies before it can publish and is reviewed by our team. Where we have reviewed the agrément and registre de commerce documents themselves, the agency’s page says so.

A listing carries a verified badge only after a phone check with the lister, and the badge expires if the listing is not confirmed as still available. A badge you see today means something today.

Signs to walk away from

Any one of these is enough:

  • A fee of any kind before you have visited.
  • A “reservation” or “file” payment to hold the property.
  • Being moved to a phone number that is not the one on the listing.
  • A price well below the street for no stated reason.
  • A seller or agent who cannot produce the deed.

If something is wrong

Report the listing from its page. It takes one tap and no account, and we read every report. A listing with upheld reports comes down, and an agency that collects them loses its place here.
