Accessibility statement

Buyutkom is meant to be usable by everyone looking for a home, whatever device, language or assistive technology they use.

What we do

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, and test every release in Chrome, Safari and Firefox, on a computer and on a phone.

  • Every form field has a visible label tied to it, and errors are written next to the field.
  • Everything can be reached and used with a keyboard, with a visible focus.
  • Text and controls meet the contrast the guidelines ask for.
  • Arabic pages read right to left throughout, and every page exists in French, Arabic and English.
  • Images carry a text alternative, and decorative ones are hidden from screen readers.
  • Pages respect the reduced-motion setting of your device.

What is not yet as good as it should be

Maps show where a home is, but a map is hard to use without sight. The address and the area are always written on the page as well.

Photos uploaded by listers do not carry their own descriptions; the listing’s text describes the home instead.

Tell us

If something on Buyutkom is hard to use for you, write to [email protected] with the page and what happened. A person reads every message.
